Buying beautifully designed products at auction and doing good at the same time - around 100 participants took advantage of this opportunity on the second Sunday of Advent at the Red Dot Design Museum's traditional Advent charity auction. Numerous products that have already taken part in the Red Dot Design Award were donated by the manufacturers and now auctioned off to the highest bidder for a good cause. A total of 14,673 euros was raised. All of the proceeds from the charity auction will go to Friedensdorf International Oberhausen, which helps sick and injured children in war and crisis zones.

Highest individual proceeds for luxury luggage, loudspeakers and headphones
The charity auction offered participants the opportunity to bid for design highlights, in some cases for far less than they were worth, and thus find some last-minute Christmas presents. Individual products fetched proceeds of 1,000 euros and more. A Louis Vuitton trolley, for example, was only knocked down after two bidders had raised the price to 1,510 euros. Loudspeakers from sonoro audio and headphones from Meze Audio fetched 1,000 euros and 900 euros respectively for the Peace Village.

A total of 119 design products went under the hammer, including consumer electronics, tools, accessories, furniture and baby carriages. After around two and a half hours, every single one of them was auctioned off.

Helping the most vulnerable: Proceeds go to the Peace Village International Oberhausen
Vito Oražem, Managing Director of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, opened the afternoon with thought-provoking words on the state of the world and reminded the audience that although the products were also important, the main aim was to raise as much money as possible for Friedensdorf International in Oberhausen - whose work is more important than ever in these times. One hundred percent of the 13,904 euros raised at the auction, as well as the museum admission fee of 769 euros paid by participants, will go to the Peace Village, which was represented at the auction by Wolfgang Mertens.

The organization, which is financed entirely by donations, has been helping sick and injured children from war and crisis zones for over 50 years. By providing free treatment in European clinics, it enables individual medical assistance. There are also international aid projects on site. Aid missions and rescue flights are carried out several times a year. Sick children for whom there is no chance of recovery at home are treated in Europe before they return to their families. At present, almost 190 children are in Germany with the Peace Village for medical treatment.
